Job Summary:
The Legal Counsel is a lawyer responsible for assisting, supporting and reporting to the General Counsel of the Harmonic Group of companies (“GGC”), as part of the Legal Team, in relation to all internal legal matters for business lines and the operations of Harmonic globally. This position is based in Harmonic’s office and is not a remote position.
Essential Functions
Legal
- Responsible for handling a portfolio of client legal matters (primarily Cayman Islands funds and structures but also including but not limited to US (Delaware), Canadian, Irish and Luxembourg funds and structures) as part of the Legal Team.
- Responsible for handling ad-hoc Harmonic proprietary legal matters as requested by GGC from time to time.
- Work closely on a day-to-day basis with the members of the Legal Team based in Harmonic offices outside in other jurisdictions to provide support and collaboration as needed.
- Assist GGC in developing, enhancing and communicating the objectives of the Legal framework.
- Promote the continued legal and compliance culture of excellence within Harmonic Group.
- Provide training to staff on key laws and regulations, policies and procedures of Harmonic Group.

Job Qualifications
- A graduate of a top-tier university admitted as a lawyer in England and Wales and/or Ireland and/or Cayman Islands.
- 5+ years of experience post-graduation working in a similar role in the financial services industry. Experience must be directly related to business and commercial transactions.
- Additional overseas experience working as a hedge funds/private equity lawyer whilst physically located in England/Ireland/Luxembourg is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Extensive experience and understanding of laws and regulations relating to:
- the establishment, operation and regulation of Cayman Islands structures (including hedge funds, private equity funds and other specialized fund products/SPVs); and
- (preferably) the establishment, operation and regulation of US (Delaware)/ Canadian/ Ireland/ Luxembourg structures (including hedge funds, private equity funds and other specialized fund products/SPVs); and
- (preferably) loan administration.
All of the above should be derived from an in-house role with a global administrator/investment manager, or from a role as a lawyer in the financial services/funds group of a large corporate law firm.
- A sound working knowledge of all Windows applications.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Self-driven attitude and a strong work ethic.

- Excellent time management, planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and highest levels of responsiveness.
- Keen to work as part of a successful and well-respected Legal Team in a supportive, sociable and people-facing environment
